“ALONE” by Kate Chopin
I see the sights that I saw in the Sight
Of Love’s dawn-lght in its morning’s glow:
I dream the dreams that I dreamt in The Dream
When hopes ran high over fears lain low:
I love the life that I lived in The Life
Of our living Love in the Long Ago.
Golden lights are the lights that yet Light
That Love Day Morn of the Time Gone By:
Bright are the blushes that blush in The Blush
In the zenith of high of the Love-Lit Sky:
Sweet are the kisses that kissed in The Kiss
That welcomed a Love not born to die.
Fearful the fears that fear in the Fear
that fills the space to my distant Star:
Black the darkness that darkens The Dark
From high o’erhead to the horizon’s bar:
Sad are the sighs that sigh in The Sigh
That thrills my world while you are afar.
Sweet are the hopes that hope in The Hope
That shows through the Future’s Door ajar:
Bright is the light that lightens The Light
That shines from my heart to you afar:
Lovely the Life that shall live in The Life
When the Distance no longer my Kisses bar.
